K-ON! (けいおん!)
is the anime adaption of the same-called manga by Kakifly, which was produced by Kyoto Animation and aired in Japan between 2009 and 2010 in two seasons. The anime became a world-wide success and allowed the franchise to gain much more depth by highlighting facts that the manga did or could not do. The anime also introduced real music, partly based on lyrics from the manga but mostly entirely new composition. The music from the anime contains several "Original Soundtracks", "Character Image Songs" for most individual characters and several musical productions by the main band, Ho-Kago Tea Time.

K-ON!’s ,
Story revolves around five Japanese high school girls who join their school’s Light Music Club. The show follows the daily lives of each member and shows their interactions with each other, their teachers, friends and families. At first, despite being successful in saving the club from being disbanded, each member brings in her own sorts of problems to prevent a strict and structured training. The guitarist Yui Hirasawa has no experience in playing musical instruments or reading sheet music and usually forgets already managed progresses, be it in her musical or academic career. Drummer Ritsu Tainaka often forgets to fulfill her responsibilities as the club's president and usually rushes at the drums. The bassist Mio Akiyama is, in contrast to her Ritsu's hyperactive nature, a shy scaredy-cat with immense stage fright. The keyboardist Tsumugi Kotobuki has, as the overprotected daughter of an unimaginably rich and influential family, no real idea of "normal" social situations. At the beginning of their second year of high school, a fifth member joins the club, an underclassman named Azusa Nakano who also plays guitar and usually struggles with the irresponsibility and carelessness of the other members. During their shared school career, all of them eventually manage to handle their problems together, making the light music club a more serious club bit by bit. Every day, the club gathers together to drink tea and eat snacks in the clubroom, which quickly becomes the club's trademark and finally leads to the band's name, "Ho-Kago Tea
Time" (Afterschool Tea Time).

Main Chara:
Meet YUI HIRASAWA,
She  is one of the main characters of the series K-ON!. She is the air-headed lead guitarist and vocalist of the Light Music Club

Always looking for fun, Yui is fearless; anxiety and stage fright are unknown to her. She likes everything cute and makes a lot of physical contact like holding hands or hugging. She also loves everything sweet (that's why Ritsu gave her a Alias "Lazy Fairy"). Sweets that Mugi brings are Yui's power source. Her physical constitution is such that she does not gain weight no matter how much she eats. She can't stand being hot or cold, so she spends the winter under the kotatsu (a knee-height table with an electric foot-warmer installed inside on the top board, which is used with a coverlet during winter)[1] and rolls around on the floor in the summer in front of the fan, to keep cool.[2] Her grades are always on the verge of failing except for the fine arts in which she is exceeding; sometimes she is the only person in her class who needs to retake a test[3], other times she manages to avoid failing all of her subjects by a one point margin. She has an average figure. Yui lives in a family of four with her younger sister Ui and both parents. Her parents are a "lovey-dovey" couple[4] and often go on trips together, leaving both daughters behind. Main character, lead guitarist, lead vocalist. Having misunderstood that "light music" equals to "easy music" (like whistling), she joined the Light Music Club and picked up guitar with absolutely no prior experience.[5] She cannot do more than one thing at a time, but to make up for that she can be highly focused on a particular subject and once started, can advance quite substantially. However, whenever she learns something, she forgets something else.[6] Yui is the type of person who doesn't read manuals and relies on her own intuition and self-taught approaches. She also does not remember any of the musical terminology. She possesses perfect pitch and is musically gifted. She is able to tune her guitar without a tuner[7], but she does not appear to make the best of her ability. Yui is relatively determined and competitive, but at the same time she feels comfortable depending on the help of a few good people like Ui, Nodoka, Mio and Azusa.
.
APPEARANCE
Yui is a teenager of below average height of 5'1", with brown eyes and thick medium brown hair at shoulder length, often accessorized mostly with two yellow pins.

Meet Mio Akiyama
She is the mature but scaredy-cat-bassist, and second vocalist of the Light Music Club and Ho-Kago Tea Time.
Her voice provider is Yōko Hikasa (Japanese) and Cristina Valenzuela (English).
Mio is the bass player of the Light Music Club; even though she acts mature, calm, and collected most of the time, she freaks out from things she's afraid of, or are gross or pertain to gore. Because of her extreme shyness, she chose bass over the more conspicuous guitar. She is so delicate that merely imagining herself being the center of attention almost makes her faint, but still plays bass quite well. Although, she is not altogether uninterested in joining a band outside school, the time spent with the Light Music Club members is the time she enjoys the most, so she has completely devoted herself to the club. During the school festival performance in the fall of her first high school year she acted as lead vocalist instead of Yui, who had lost her voice. At the time it seemed like Mio might have overcome her stage fright, but after the performance ended, she tripped over a cord and fell, exposing her panties, and was traumatized anew.
Appearance
Mio stands at 5'3", being the tallest in the group and has straight, long, black hair and gray-blue eyes. As shown in episode 4 of season 1, she is also quite a bit more busty than the others (except Mugi), much to Yui and Ritsu's dismay, and later Azusa's as well.
Attires
Pants over skirts. In summertime, she likes to wear sleeveless clothes, such as tank tops.

Meet Ritsu Tainaka
She is the self-appointed president of the Light Music Club, and the drummer of the band Ho-kago Tea Time. She was the one who reformed the Light Music Club when it was on the verge of being disbanded, and has become the natural leader of the club since then.

Ritsu is the source of fun and encouragement of her band, often making jokes, puns or pranks and being sarcastic most of the time. She has an ambiguous yet upbeat personality, but has often troubles remembering important club activities and announcements. Because of that, she constantly gets whacked by her childhood friend Mio Akiyama. Despite her forgetfulness, she usually brainstorms for ideas to earn more money or for the club's success in general (like blackmailing Sawako Yamanaka to become the club's supervisor). Her attitude of collecting as much money as possible lets her sometimes appear greedy, something she greatly dislikes. Ritsu is always on the go and will stop at nothing for the success of the Light Music Club, even when everyone else gives up.br />br /> Ritsu is very barefaced, sometimes audacious or even impudent, yet she never has any ill minds and usually apologizes the moment after she went too far. On the other hand, she can't stop annoying everybody around her whenever the chance appears. Because of that, she has developed a certain endurance against Mio's hits.

From time to time, Ritsu has been a very lazy character as well. When it comes to practicing, she only thinks of having fun with her bandmates (such as having tea breaks that almost drove Azusa Nakano away). During training camps, Ritsu usually votes to play first the moment they arrive and is often supported by Yui Hirasawa. She is usually too lazy to study and often needs Mio's help (because of that, she actually scores good marks). In very few occasions, when the pressure is too high, she tends to give up and needs the help of her friends to continue.[4] When she becomes determined however, she can get her work done in no time. Such determination can be seen on her goal towards Budōkan or attending her university of choice so she can study with the rest of her friends together. She also loves playing her drums despite being hardly willed to practice.
Ritsu has a liking for the band The Who and admires the drummer Keith Moon, although she dislikes his various past rampages. When it comes to music, Ritsu prefers rock. She also likes metal or punk, as long as it has a good beat, it's alright.
Ritsu is very athletic and has by far the best condition of all members of the Light Music Club. Physical Education is the only subject she is naturally good at.

Ritsu has a strong sense of confidence from an unknown source, although her confidence has often lead to the club's despair, such as when losing their way in the middle of Kyōto.[7] A trademark of her is the habit of putting both arms at the back of her head. She is also very curious and therefore knowledgeable of many places to have fun at, a fact her friend Tsumugi Kotobuki admires. Tsumugi also described her as the type of person who walks the extra mile for her friends and who would be really popular among girls if she would be a boy (leading Ritsu to hit her out of embarrassment).

Meet Azusa Nakano

She is a student at Sakuragaoka High School. She decided to join the Light Music Club after seeing the band's performance in the school festival and thus became Ho-kago Tea Time's rhythm guitarist. After the original Light Music Club members graduated, she re-founded the club and became its new president, as well as the main guitarist and main vocalist of her new band, Wakaba Girls.

Azusa is a self-proclaimed novice guitarist who has been playing the guitar ever since the fourth grade because her parents are playing in a jazz band.[1] Despite her low self-esteem and modest attitude, she is extremely talented and superior to her senior Yui (who also plays guitar) in many ways.

Since she expected the Light Music Club to be a serious club with ambitious members, she is often disappointed by the laziness around her. Shortly after joining, her disappointment let her went as far as having a rage attack or searching for other bands to join.[2] Getting stimulated by her senior Mio Akiyama however removed her last doubts and she joined the club for real, although she still often nags about the club's low activities. When doing so, she can be quite cynical and judgmental.

ver the time, she slowly became used to the club's slow pace and often gets teased because of it. She has a certain weakness for sweets and can be calmed down rather easily, sometimes just from being petted. Every now and then, she is shocked about how quick she got used to the club's laziness and tries to change it.

Azusa is easily overwhelmed by good musical performances, seen when she watches the Light Music Club's concert or Sawako Yamanaka's performance speechlessly.[4][5] She also gets a tan very easily, seen twice during a trip to the beach and also once during a music festival (even after applying sunscreen). The manga shows that she tans in mere seconds. She often suffers under the aftermaths, like not being able to take a bath due to the sunburn, not being recognized by friends due to her drastic change in appearance or needing to hide the tan lines by wearing a longer skirt at school.

Meet Tsumugi Kotobuki
otherwise known as Mugi, is a wealthy, cheery cute girl with a gentle personality who plays the keyboard in the Light Music Club. She was originally going to join the choir club, but after Ritsu Tainaka's false flashback, she thought it would be fun to join the light music club instead.

Her voice actress is Minako Kotobuki (Japanese) and Shelby Lindley (English).
Tsumugi, more known as "Mugi" is the gentle and sweet keyboardist of the club. Mugi is a wealthy girl who has a sweet and gentle personality. Mugi is considered a piano prodigy since she was four and has experience winning in piano contests. She is the daughter of a company president, and her family has several villas in various places around Japan (and even one in Finland, much to Ritsu, Azusa and Ui's surprise when they try to contact her at home). She often brings sweets and confectioneries to her friends. The tea set and the tea which they drink often are unusually high in price.
Although she is a sweet and gentle girl, she is often weirdly entranced by the sight of two girls interacting closely together, sometimes imagining something more risque in her head (both Mio and Ritsu find this awkward at times). She originally intended to join the choir club, but joins the light music club instead after receiving an invitation and encouragement from both Mio and Ritsu. Mugi displays a rebellious streak occasionally, due to her wanting to deviate from her wealthy nature, and diverts from a well-behaved and mature demeanor to the surprise of others. She also has a habit of getting a little too enthusiastic about experiencing new things that the others take for granted (such as ordering fast food, eating yakisoba at a festival, and purposely provoking Mio to hit her).
Despite her being wealthy, she also tries her hand at a part-time job at a fast-food restaurant. While a lot of things do not bother her, she is fairly conscious about her weight (just like Mio), and she gets a bit anxious when her family's staff start spoiling her friends during villa visits.
Appearance
Mugi has long, wavy blonde hair and sapphire-blue eyes, and she has a very fair complexion that the other girls don't have, that could lead to her being of European decent. She appears to have very thick brown eyebrows that Yui likes to call a "pickled radish."
Attires
Skirts over pants. High society lady styles, such as elegant one piece dresses.
